MARY CARL DIXON

Mary joined the team in January 2024 and had her sights set on returning to the stage after a long 11 year hiatus. We spent the first initial 6 weeks incrementing her calories up to establish a high set point before beginning prep.

We set our sights on the natural shows being our main priority, with a few others thrown in for good measure. We began the season in the athletic figure class gaining some success however after a couple of showings within the PCA ranks we decided she would be more suited towards toned figure. Making the switch changed the tide of her season, grabbing a win at WNBF and then again at UKUP where she went one step further and won the overall!

I couldn’t have asked more of Mary at any time during the prep and I was amazed at how she balanced life and bodybuilding with such a busy job. One thing is for certain, her future in this sport looks very bright for Mary and I can wait to see it all unfold.

Across her season Mary collected:

1 x Overall
2 x 1st
1 x 3rd
1 x 4th
1 x 5th
1 x UKUP Figure Pro Card

Here’s what Mary had to say about her journey:

“This was my second time competing, but my first time working with a coach and honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Vaughan's enthusiasm for the sport is only matched by his expertise, and from day one I was confident I'd picked the right person to guide me through prep.

I never felt like I was just a number in an excel spreadsheet, or that the plan for me was a "copy paste" job. Vaughan truly cares for every client as an individual, an athlete, and as an adult. Every incoherent, hangry, rambling voice note was met with an empathetic response and no question was too small. He helped me be kind to myself when the "prep goggles" took over and I was hit with self doubt. In the end, the results speak for themselves.

People think of bodybuilding as an individual event, but with Vaughan it's undoubtedly a team sport. He is there every step of the way, from the first check-in until show day, feeling the losses, celebrating the wins, and helping clients navigate the rollercoaster of it all.

Everybody wants to win. Every coach wants their clients to win, but when it comes to Vaughan that desire for his clients to succeed never feels self-serving or for the sake of a brand - it comes from him being genuinely invested in your journey.

I can say without a doubt that even if I'd made it to the stage, I wouldn't have had the success I've achieved this season without Vaughan. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone who asked.”
